Honors ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ name change

The UAF Honors Program has changed its name to the Honors ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ. The name change was brought about through the support of the Strategic Enrollment Planning process, and is compatible with the best practices and guidelines outlined by the National Collegiate Honors Council.
The shift to an Honors ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ signals significant growth within the Honors student population. The first-year class — a talented and diverse group from all over Alaska, the country and the world — is composed of over 60 students from 20 majors. The group includes several high school salutatorians.
The name change reflects substantial programmatic growth as well. In partnership with Residential Life, Honors has a new living-learning community in the Skarland residence hall. The Honors ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ also features a new Climate Scholar Program, which offers interdisciplinary research and experiential education opportunities for high-achieving students studying climate change and climate resilience.
The Honors ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ, which is undergoing a redesign of its website, is helping expand UAF's capacity to offer robust integrative education in support of students, the schools and colleges, research institutes, and the UAF strategic plan.
