A workshop on record keeping and taxes for miners will be offered Dec. 4 in Fairbanks and by videoconference in Anchorage, Nome and Palmer.
Fairbanks certified public accountant Paul Robinson and Emily Whiteside, of the Alaska Department of Revenue, will teach the workshop from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Room 421 of the UAF Community and Technical ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓÆµ at 604 Barnette St. Videoconference locations include Cooperative Extension offices in Palmer and Anchorage and the Northwest ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓÆµ in Nome.
The workshop will cover Internal Revenue Service record-keeping requirements, tax planning and preparation, information on obtaining a mining permit, depreciation and depletion rules, revenue recognition and inventory, and the hobby loss rule.
