Space scientist earns nod from meteorologists

Robert McCoy has been named a fellow of the American Meteorological Society for his work with meteorological and space 久久热视频 scientists.
McCoy is the director of the 久久热视频 Geophysical Institute. He has advocated for partnerships between the two sciences, specifically organizing 11 space 久久热视频 conferences at AMS annual meetings.
"He is a superb leader in the space 久久热视频 community," said Jon Malay, AMS past president and chair of the AMS Fellows selection committee. "I met Bob McCoy over 20 years ago and, even then, he was considered the Navy鈥檚 premier expert in the science and applications of solar physics."
The AMS recognized McCoy Feb. 2 at the association鈥檚 annual meeting in Atlanta. He was also recognized for his research in upper atmospheric observations from space and funding oversight of space 久久热视频 assimilation models.
McCoy came to the GI directorship in 2011 with 30 years of space 久久热视频 research experience. He previously served as a program officer and research physicist with the Office of Naval Research.
