Mitchell Hamline School of Law is a nationally respected institution known for its commitment to accessible, practice-ready legal education. The UAF / Mitchell Hamline School of Law's Direct Admission Program provides UAF undergraduate students and alumni guaranteed admission if they meet GPA and LSAT requirements which then grants them a scholarship of at least 50% of tuition, which is renewable as long as criteria is met. This scholarship is renewable each year of enrollment based on scholarship retention criteria in effect at the time of admission. Students may pursue the Juris Doctor degree through full-time, part-time, or Blended Learning options, allowing flexibility to study on campus in Minnesota or remain in Alaska for much of their legal education.
Program Eligibility Requirements
- Complete all requirements for a UAF Bachelor 's degree before matriculating at MHSL;
- Complete all requirements for a UAF Bachelor 's degree before matriculating at MHSL;
- Earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in courses taken at UAF and no lower than a 3.0 GPA on all transferred courses;
- Earn a minimum score on the LSAT at or above the 50th percentile of the most recent class to matriculate at MHSL;
- Apply to MHSL for admission into the full-time, part-time, or Blended Learning J.D. program between October 1 and May 1 in the academic year before the student intends to begin J.D. study; and
- Meet MHSL's character and fitness requirements and comply with MHSL's general admissions policies and requirements.
