UAF Consolidated Fee
Why do we have a consolidated fee?
The UAF Consolidated Fee was established beginning in Fall 2020 for the 2020–2021 academic year. Prior to its implementation, a student’s bill typically included at least ten separate fee line items that supported many of the departments now funded through the consolidated fee. These included fees such as the ASUAF Student Government Fee, the Nanook Recreation Fee, the Student Activities Fee, and others.
The previous fee model was complex. Some fees were assessed as flat amounts once students reached a certain credit threshold, while others were charged on a per-credit basis and capped at a maximum amount. Fee rates also varied depending on the campus offering the course. As a result, the total fee structure could be difficult for students to understand and anticipate.
To simplify this structure, the Tuition and Fee Committee recommended transitioning to a single consolidated fee that distributes revenue to departments providing student services across all UAF campuses.

Today, the consolidated fee is a flat $56 per credit hour and supports student services across 15 departments at UAF.

How is my consolidated fee distributed?
The UAF Consolidated Fee is assessed at $56 per credit hour. For example, a student enrolled in 6 credit hours during a semester would pay $336 in Consolidated Fees.
The revenue collected through the Consolidated Fee is automatically distributed to the departments supported by the fee according to a predetermined percentage allocation.

Student Health and Counseling Center – 18.5% of the Consolidated Fee

Center for Teaching & Learning (e¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ) - 12% of the Consolidated Fee
Funds go towards academic and advising support, online student resources, exam proctoring services, technology upgrades, and enhancements to course delivery. For more information, visit the .
Athletics – 11.5% of the Consolidated Fee
Provides admission to all home athletic competitions and live streaming of Nanook sporting events. Fee excludes post-season competitions. For further details regarding event/ticket policies visit the .
Nanook Recreation – 11.5% of the Consolidated Fee
Membership to the Student Recreation Center (SRC), Patty Ice, Patty Pool, and Outdoor Adventures including virtual recreation classes. The SRC is a comprehensive fitness facility with equipment, courts, track, group fitness, intramurals and a climbing wall. Patty Ice provides recreational ice skating sessions. Patty Pool provides lap swim sessions. Outdoor Adventures has discounted equipment rentals, trips and an outdoor rock/ice wall. Some extra programs have additional fees associated; consult DRAW staff for details. Anyone under the age of 18 using the SRC and its facilities must be accompanied by a parent or guardian whose minimum age is 21, unless they are a full-time UAF student. Center for Student Engagement – Transformative Experience – 10% of the Consolidated fee
Supports Nanook traditions such as Starvation Gulch, Winter Carnival and SpringFest as well as student activities and student life programs that enhance the out-of-class experience of students and provides ongoing operational and capital funding for programs. Libraries and Digital Resources – 9.5% of the Consolidated Fee
Supports students by providing the Elmer E. Rasmuson Library services such as research assistance and instruction, online/digital resources, subscriptions for databases and journals, and improvements to library materials/spaces (physical and virtual) used by students
Associated Students of UAF (ASUAF) - 6.5% (Total) of the Consolidated Fee
Student Government – 2 % of the Consolidated Fee
The Associated Students of the ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ (ASUAF) is your student
government at UAF. ASUAF represents student voices to university leadership, the Board
of Regents, and the Alaska Legislature. Beyond advocacy, ASUAF provides club funding,
travel funding, legal consultations with an attorney, and events and programs throughout

Student Sustainability – 2 % of the Consolidated Fee
The UAF Office of Sustainability oversees student-run sustainability programs and
initiatives. Key programs and services include the UAF Recycling pickups program,
the Green Bikes Shop, the FreeStore, the Upcycle Annex Repair Cafe & Makerspace, the
Nanook Grown Student Gardener Training Program, and the Wood Center Food Pantry. The
Office also hosts events, houses internships, and assists students with sustainability-focused

Student Media – 2.5 % of the Consolidated Fee
The Student Media department includes three distinct groups: The Sun Star, UAF’s student
newspaper; KSUA, the student radio station; and Concert Board, the student-managed
live entertainment planning group. Each operates independently of the other, offering
students a diverse and engaging media experience across a range of interests. To contact

Nanook Technology Services – Technology Support & Refresh - 6.5% of the Consolidated Fee
Supports technology initiatives including implementation of UAF's wireless network/access, delivering university-licensed software to all students, increasing the number of technology-enabled classrooms and computing spaces, and expanding and improving online and self-service environments.
Student Success Center – Tutoring, Advising, Student Support - 5.0% of the Consolidated Fee
The academic tutoring fee provides students with unlimited access to academic tutoring sessions across various subjects as well as unlimited, personalized academic support from trained peer coaches. These services are available throughout the year, in-person and online, to help students achieve their educational goals and excel in their studies.
Transportation – 4.0% of the Consolidated Fee
Supports the operation of shuttle buses that transport students and staff across campus and to various university facilities off-campus (in Fairbanks), including infrastructure supporting transportation services, snow removal, and lot maintenance at university sites and locations (in and beyond Fairbanks).
Graduate School – 2.0% of the Consolidated Fee
Supports enhancement of operational capacity, improves student services, ensures timely, high-quality academic processes, including thesis/dissertation review, orientation programming and professional development events. These funds support academic and advising support for graduate students and thesis completion fellowships, as well as the streamlining of academic processes. This allocated dedication ensures sustained investment in graduate education and aligns infrastructure funding with UAF's mission to foster high-quality, research-driven student outcomes.
Community & Technical ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ – Technology Support & Refresh - 2.0% of the Consolidated Fee
Supports technology initiatives including implementation of CTC's wireless network/access, delivering university-licensed software to all students, increasing the number of technology-enabled classrooms and computing spaces, and expanding and improving online and self-service environments.
General Studies/Undergraduate Research & Scholarly Activities - 0.5% of the Consolidated Fee
Supports URSA’s Innovative Technology and Education (ITE) awards, providing funding for technology-related equipment and software used in student instruction, research, and scholarly activity.
Student Arts & Production Access - 0.5% of the Consolidated Fee
Supports free student admission to all Music Department concerts, Theatre & Film Department productions and film screenings, and Art Department gallery openings. In addition to free admission for students, fee revenue supports safety compliance, equipment/technology towards a modern student experience and the safe operation of the specialized spaces within the Fine Arts Complex. UAF students have free admission to approximately 50 events each academic year.
