This is protective service work at the trainee level in providing security and maintaining order within the courthouse for judges, attorneys, witnesses, jurors, prisoners in custody, defendants on bond, and the general public. Work is follows standard operating procedures. Work is patterned involving similar situations and generally requiring only the choice of the correct procedure. Work is performed in a courtroom environment where risks and hazards are known, somewhat predictable and mostly controllable. Operates firearms, restraining devices, and related law enforcement equipment. The physical demands consist of sitting or standing for long periods of time and may require physical exertion in restraint of individuals weighing more than 50 pounds. The work is performed under direct supervision, where the work assignments vary and are although subject to standard practices and procedures.
